Chunky Scarf Crochet Pattern

So last week I posted my Top Five Hot Mess Mommy Tips and commenter  Jaimie (who has a gorgeous name) said she liked the knit scarf in the picture.
Well, Jaimie, that made my day, because I MADE that scarf!  It's actually crochet and it took about 30 minutes, it was so simple I thought it wasn't worth posting, but since you liked it, I thought I'd share.  It's actually one long tube that I wrap around my neck three times.
Get the (crazy easy beginner) Chunky Crochet Wrap Scarf Pattern after the jump...

Chunky Crochet Wrap Scarf Pattern

Use chunky yarn (I used my favorite Wool-Ease Thick & Quick in Charcoal available here) or double up a thinner yarn.  I used a Size N (9mm) Crochet Hook available here. Gauge doesn't really matter but its 4X4".

Chain it to the length you want (I chained 135 but it's just a tad long..if i did it again i'd do 125). Slip stitch to join into the first stitch.
Row 1: *Ch 3, dc into fourth chain from the hook, dc 134 (or each additional stitch in your length), slip stitch into first stitch to join
Row 2&3: Repeat from *
Weave in ends
Done!

And thanks for the post UCreate!

Hm..That's sort of an ingenious way to make a very simple cowl! I have some chunky yarn left over in blue, spring green, orange, and pink. Love my brights! I may just have to try a little color matching and see what I come up with. This is really cute!

i just wanted to add that i didn't block it so it rolls. i like it that way so i can wrap it three times.

I made one last night in Orange and Blue, mostly because I ran out of Blue in the first round. I also decided to only do two rounds instead of three because I have a short neck. haha I posted a blog about it and the free pattern with a link to your website today. Check it out if you'd like. http://browneyedgirl1489.blogspot.com/2010/02/new-cowlscarf-from-leftover-yarn.html

Thanks for the pattern! :)

Thanks for the great project Jaime! I made one today and linked it back to you and Kari at U Create! I ended up using one whole ball of yarn...guage, guage, what is that? :)

I just made another one and used an entire ball of yarn as well. I actually had to pull some yarn from another skein of a different color b/c I didn't have any more of the color I was working with. Whoops! Good thing its just for me. ;o)

I love it! Looking at the wearing photo, I had no idea that was a skinny scarf. How versatile! Thanks so much, I'll be linking.
